Thailand is a haven for many divers because of its many top dive sites. One place many divers appreciate is Koh Bon (or Bon Island). It is a small island along the southeastern coast of Phuket that is the perfect place to snorkel, sunbathe, and enjoy good food and drinks. It does not have any accommodations and is only available for day trip visits, but it is a worthy addition to any itinerary.
When you visit Koh Bon, you will be welcomed by two sites: a long strip of white sand and a local restaurant called Bon Island restaurant.
Experience Authentic and International Cuisine in Bon Island Restaurant
Even though there are no accommodations, staying on the island is not a problem, thanks to Bon Island Restaurant. This dining place is an excellent reason for tourists to visit the site.
It stands on a 3,500 square meter lot and can accommodate up to 150 guests. This restaurant is open every day from 10 am to 5 pm and is only closed when there is inclement weather. The restaurant offers that “castaway” feel, letting you have a taste of simple island living with fantastic food and drinks. Even travelers from other islands drop by here for lunch.
The Bon Island Restaurant serves classic Thai cuisine—the crowd favorite tom yum goong (a spicy soup with prawns), deep-fried tempura chicken, pineapple fried rice prawn, and plah rahd prik (fried fillet of fish with sweet chili sauce).
During the high season, they add international options to their food, such as sandwiches, burgers, french fries, and more. If you are not in the mood to eat, the restaurant also offers cocktails you can enjoy while sightseeing.
After lunch, when the sailing boats and yachts from different islands proceed with their journey, you can enjoy the water and the beach.
